I know that not many would have a need, but some might.  How about implementing the ability to create multiple templates for search and search results.  For that matter how about for news and all its types of templates.    This makes it possible also to include a search templates to include in themes in case they need to be certain dimensions to match.

Not a bad idea.

News already has the ability to have multiple different templates of each type.

I had to disable news because Google was indexing it strangely and giving me duplicate content.
