global and per page meta tag info

Hi guys.
I have searched for a clear answer, without any solution to this issue and am a bit stuck now.
I am trying to set global meta tag information and also meta tag information in specific pages.
What is the correct way to show a global meta tag as well as append any extra meta information from content pages to this?
I am using CMSMS 1.5.1 and if I add any page specific metadata, they appear at the top of my displayed html and as plain text in the head tag of the html.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
