New install of 1.5.1 Advise

A clients website crapped out on me yesterday. I have a backup of the DB before the issue and after. I didn't however backup the site files until after the issue.
ISSUE
Client tried to edit a title in a Album in the Album Module. This caused the site to throw errors saying "CGExtentions could not be found" YES CGExtentions was installed and the site was working as expected before this issue.
My Question
If I install 1.5.1 will I be able to overwright some admin pages and the database or at least user data templates etc...with the good previous version?
I have User Defined tags and many other edits to module templates etc...
I have made some significant changes to the user module and other pages that allows users to login and edit their info "Not using the "Frontend Users Mod" as well as displaying their info on a pages etc...
I would like to just reupload the saved site and previous DB but I still get the CGExtentions not found.
