Getting Calendar Details to display beside small calendar

Hi,
I have installed the calendar template on my site and I would like the "calendar" display to show in a column and then have the details and summary show up in another column just beside it. The dates of the calendar would then be clicked and the events for the day would show up right beside it.
Can anybody help me? Latest versions of calendary module and CMS
