Hi, I'm making a site using cmsms mle using news module and comments module to form a "real" multilanguage blog.

My intent is to make a blog, where

- i write every news (blog item) manually in two language and
- when a visitor send a comment to a news item, this comment is automatically translated in the other language and saved in the news counterpart written in the other language.

The problem of the translation will be solved simple using the parsing of the output of the google translator, but
there's the problem of the news module:

actually every news item have ad unique ID number, therfore, If I'm viewing a news element in the "language A" category (positioned in apposit "language A" content item of cmsms mle), when I switch the language using the apposite flag from cmsms mle, what will be showed is not the news counterpart in "language B" but will be showed the list of news items of category "language B".
Therfore the comments module too have that problem, being not possiblem to identify the corresponding news to save the "other language comment version".

The problem would be solved if every news item have the possibility to save two (or more depending of the language number) version of the news itself, in the same manner of the content item of cmsms mle.
This change, would be useful to make comment automatically in two language, being identifiable the news item counterpart.

Can you tell me some other ideas to create that "real multilanguage blog"?
(or are you planning in future to modify the news module making this feature available?)

For the rest of the site I can use the language option when I edit content with CMSMS MLE.
Therfore, yes the intention is to make the entire site multilingual (two language).

Why did you ask this?

Sorry for the confusion... I though I was in the regular forums  . So I had an idea in mind utilizing my content_dump plug-in (as I mainly use it as blog now). But since you want real ML abilility, I think it doesn't suit you (as I never had a look at MLE before)

Yes, the workaround is to have a second index relative to language.
In truth there is already, if you look to cms_module_news there is:
news_id and news_category_id
and news_category_id can be relative to language

The problem is:
- remove news_id PRIMARY key and put PRIMARY news_id and news_category_id
- modify the queries for retrieve data with WHERE news_id=ID AND news_category_id=Y
- if you submit in a category Y you save in Y-$lang and a UDT (with a foreach) save Google translations in Y-$OtherLang. All with same ID
- modify RegisterRoute for id and category

I think is all (maybe ...)

I don't work on modules (unless it is necessary for a work) and in this moment I am on 2.0 (and 1.5) development
Remember that 2.0 core and modules will be multilingual

Only the comments module have to automatically save the google translator results (in the comments table), while the news post are manually translated... therfore I'm thinking what happens if there's not the "news-id-category-lang-id" corresponding to the commented news. Perhaps is useful to make the bilingual post contemporary.

UDT: User Defined Tag
RegisterRoute: route necessary for module to retrieve values via internal pretty url (look in News.module.php)
