Making TITLE LINK in news summary link to PRINTLINK

I run an association and will be using the news feature to display our HTML newsletter.
The printlink is perfect for displaying a large HTML newsletter. If I use the title link to link to the HTML newsletter the newsletter bleeds off the web page.
Question:
How can I make the title link in news summaries link to the print link instead of displaying the content in line with the other summaries?
I have been playing around with {$entry->printlink} in the details template of the news page, but I can't get it to work.
Any suggestions.
