Using an email Address as a FEU Username

Does anyone know how to make someones user name their email address. When I try to add a FEU and make their user name an email address it says that it is an Invalid Username. Any ideas?
Using FEU: 1.4.3
CMS 1.2.3 "Black Rock"
Custom Content 1.5

Not very helpful, but I just ticked the "Email address is username" box and it worked.
I'm on 1.4.1 and FEU 1.5.2

You need to upgrade asap 1.2.3 is vulnerable to get hacked...
