Stylesheet caching: what is the optimum value?

Now that CMSMS features stylesheet caching in the Global Settings, I wonder what everyone thinks is an optimum value to put in that field? 300? 3000? 30000? 300000? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Somewhat unrelated, but I was wondering what the template option should be set to for optimum performance:
$config['process_whole_template'] = true OR false;
in config.php
