[SOLVED] MySQL 4.1.22-community-nt vs MySQL 4.1.15-Debian_0.dotdeb.4-log

Well... I am totally lost.
I have spent the last two days trying to figure it out, but without any luck.

I am moving my site from one provider to another. You can guess it, it does not work.
If I move it to another domain from the same hosting provider it works perfectly. So my guess is there are differences between the two providers.

It seems to be a failure to the database connection.
the old database is: phpMyAdmin 2.6.2-Debian-3sarge6 MySQL 4.1.15-Debian_0.dotdeb.4-log
the new database is:  Welkom op phpMyAdmin 2.6.2 MySQL 4.1.22-community-nt

There is probably something I have to change in the congif.php but i have no idea. I am not a great hero with php.

I hope this is enough info..

Regards, Denise

mysql version difference shouldn't matter.

if it says it cannot connect to database, then double-check the NEW location's config.php -- the database settings at the top, username, password, database name, and database server.. and while you're in there, look over the rest of the file as well.

Thanks for the quick reply! But that's not it. I have checked it about a zillion times. It should be right!
As I said i have moved it to another domain (from same hosting party, different database) and it ran perfectly.

Maybe it is handy if I place the config file here. Maybe there are other things you have to change too? (of wich i am not aware)
thanks again, Denise

the -nt means you are on windows I believe, the paths might have to be different or even include c:\

i usually do a clean, test install on a new server.... that way i can run through the installer at least once, see what warnings (if any) it shows (so they can be addressed later).. and then use the config.php it generates as the basis for the ones used on any migrations i do to that server.

if you don't know what your paths should be... you can try using the path and url settings from this site, server and platform "neutral" config.php that i put together... http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/pastebin/1952

(note: was taken from a 1.3 install on linux; it does have rewrite turned on.... it does work on my apache-on-windows with rewrite turned off)

That was a good idea, i did a new install and came to the conclusion that my physical path was wrong.
EUREKA i thought....

But not, i used the config file from the new upload and received the following error when approaching the domain:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in c:\domains\dressuurkampioenschapfrieschpaard.nl\wwwroot\plugins\function.cms_selflink.php on line 331

When i change the config file from my original cms with my renewed info about the path i get this error message:

string(106) "Smarty error: [in template:22 line 9]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'sitename' (core.load_plugins.php, line 124)" string(103) "Smarty error: [in template:22 line 9]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'title' (core.load_plugins.php, line 124)" string(107) "Smarty error: [in template:22 line 11]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'metadata' (core.load_plugins.php, line 124)" string(109) "Smarty error: [in template:22 line 12]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'stylesheet' (core.load_plugins.php, line 124)" string(111) "Smarty error: [in template:22 line 15]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'cms_selflink' (core.load_plugins.php, line 124)" string(103) "Smarty error: [in template:22 line 27]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'menu' (core.load_plugins.php, line 124)" string(109) "Smarty error: [in template:22 line 31]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'cms_module' (core.load_plugins.php, line 124)" string(106) "Smarty error: [in template:22 line 38]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'content' (core.load_plugins.php, line 124)"
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: smarty_cms_function_sitename() in c:\domains\dressuurkampioenschapfrieschpaard.nl\wwwroot\tmp\templates_c\%%90^908^9081762D%%template%3A22.php on line 13

I am truly baffled how it works on every other move i have tried, but just nog with this hosting party. Maybe I should contact them and ask them what is wrong.

Maybe one of you smart cmsms'ers knows what I am doing wrong.

The Eureka was correct!
I removed all the files again (for about the 100th time) from the server, uploaded the whole site again, replaced it with the 'new and fresh' config.php retrieved from the new install on the server and tada! It is working.

Thanks a lot guys! I am very happy and can finally go to bed now
