Upgrade from 1.1 --> 1.3

How is the upgrade done from 1.1 to 1.3 ?
In how many steps do I have to do it??
I know it is bad I let one of my sites wait that long but it seems like it was hacked through the CMS system, so now is the time

Here is a suggestion :
-uncrack that cracked 1.1 (repair/reinstall from sane package/backup)
-upgrade it to sane 1.2 and backup
-upgrade it to sane 1.3 and backup
-subscribe the blog's RSS feed to be notified of new security fixes.

Well, cracked is maybe to harsh to say, but they uploaded some files, even with all the right rights to files/directories and only on 1.1 version. I have many other sites, but only this one not updated.

Keeping software up to date may not be enough to be safe : see the small security guide and its hardening tips like URL filtering.
