I was wondering if there was a way to get the content I had created outputted as xml?

make an xml template, the content will be in the {content} tag

..and what next? I have pretty urls, and my page looks like rss.html, NOT rss.xml. It is must to be generated to xml. But how to generate at ftp file xml (with smarty from news module)?
