OK, here goes, hopefully it works for anyone using the Slide Show Pro gallery plug-in for Flash


Requirements:
1.) Slide Show Pro plug-in for FLash (I don't know if this works for Adobe's Light Room)
2.) Obviously Flash.
3.) Assuming that if you're reading this, you have CMS MAde Simple®, and as always, upgrade when a new version is released.

Basically, you need to know how to use SSP (Slide Show Pro)... this is not a "How-To" for SSP, but how to get it working in CMSMS based on my experience.

*** I don't have SSP Director, so I don't know how that works with any CMS, chances are it might work better, but I won't vouch for that***

So far my gallery works for the most recent FireFox and Safari, and Internet Explorer 7 (I don't know if it works in IE6, Netscape, Opera, or anything else)

1.) upload your SSP folder into your Uploads/Images folder (OK, this is what worked for me, so bear with me) So your path to your gallery will be something like http://www.mysite/uploads/images/slides ... owpro.html

At this point, you should be able to create a link to the HTML page that FLASH "published"... all of which is "relative" instead of "absolute" (this has nothing to do with CMSMS, but you'll know that your SSP gallery is working OK.) So go to http://www.mysite.com/uploads/images/sl ... owpro.html (obviously this is dependent on your domain name, and how you name your folders and files) to verify that your SSP Gallery is working... if it isn't, then it's an issue with SSP or your coding, and not an issue with CMS Made Simple

2.) From what I figured out, to get the Gallery to work in CMSMS, you'll have to change your links from "Relative" to "Absolute"... sort of.

So here is what I did:(Again, this is assuming you have some knowledge of Flash and the SSP plug-in)

In Flash, go to your component inspector, look for the "images.xml". Change that to an absolute link (like http://mysite/uploads/images/slieshowpro/images.xml)

Now, in your images.xml file, it should look like this after you tweak it:



 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 


OK, I don't get it or understand it, but it worked:
the lgPath="uploads/images/slideshow/album1/large/" is not really "relative" and it sure isn't "absolute", same with your thumbs path.

BUT, the path to the actual images (    ) displayed are still "relative" in your images.xml file.
Yeah, go figure...

Then finally, you're going to place or "Embed" your Gallery on a CMSMS page. Turn the WYSIWYG off, paste the code from your original "published" HTML from Flash/SlideShowPro but again, you'll have to adjust it to be "absolute"
Here's mine:





 

FYI: I use www.mysite.com/ in the above... obviously you would replace "mysite" with the domain name you want to use, as well as any name you choose instead of " /slideshow/slideshow.swf  " and adjust the width to fit in your page.

I'll modify the first post to be more accurate as well (the original had an extra directory "gallery", which was kind of dumb on my part)

I haven't tried yet, but the same rules might apply to the Flash Gallery created by Photoshop CS2 if anyone uses that, and wants to incorporate it into CMSMS.

implementing SSP should be easy task but i was thinking to make it one step further...
example, making your own XML with PHP so it will post all pictures in /upload/image category...

that would be nice to see...
