Error messages on top of screen [Solved]

This has been discussed elsewhere, but I am still in difficulty.
The error messages are:
Warning: fopen(/usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/newlifetoledo.com/httpdocs/tmp/cache/contentcache.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/newlifetoledo.com/httpdocs/lib/classes/class.contentoperations.inc.php on line 549
Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/newlifetoledo.com/httpdocs/lib/classes/class.contentoperations.inc.php on line 550
Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/newlifetoledo.com/httpdocs/lib/classes/class.contentoperations.inc.php on line 551
I get a similar error in the CMS admin pages:
admin/listcontent.php
and some more but I cannot find them at present!!
A previous posting suggested chmod 0777 but I am unable to do this either via my FTP client, or the Plesk desktop. (I am with 34SP.com)
I have also shut down my browser to "clear the cache"
Is this the solution to this? If not coudl someone help please.
Thank you very much
