Apply button problem

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Apply button problem

Post by raymondo »

Hi,

I have been using CMSMS for some time with no problems.  I have just moved hosting and, after the move, the only thing that seems to be not working now is the 'Apply' button on the page edit page.  When it is clicked it just greys out and the "Content updated" message never appears.  The 'Submit' button seems to work fine.

Any ideas about what may have gone wrond durng the move?  All I did was copy the files from one server to the other and change the relevent details in the config file.  I built the database from a backup.

I am using CMSMS 1.2.3, PHP 5.2.5 and MySQL 5.0.51a-community running on linux.

Thanks,

Ray

Try going to the installer and letting it run it's checks.... it may tell you if there is something wrong with session save paths or something.

You don't have to complete the installer, the first page should be enough

Okay, had to upload the install directory again as I had deleted it.  I get green ticks all the way down so all seems okay as far as that is concerned.

Okay, I've checked all the directory permissions etc with the install instructions.  This throws up another issue actually - the WYSIWYG editor does not display when the modules directory is set to 777 or 775, only when it is 755.  Odd.

However, I have now noticed that when I load a page for editing, the page never seems to fully load.  It sits there with (1 item remaining) showing at the bottom.  As soon as I click in the WYSIWYG editor it stops waiting for the item.  Maybe this item is the code for the apply button and maybe it got lost in the transfer somehow.  Can anyone point me in the right direction as to when this 'item' might be?

Might be easier if I just uploaded all the files again from the installation zip.  If I upload those over the existing installation will it cause any problems?

Hello,

see http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/FTP_program about upload transfer issues.

Bump.

We're having the same problem except we didn't transfer any files.  Anyone have any other suggestions?  Submit works fine and Apply just seems to reload the page with no changes.  We have a lot of users using this, so this is a pretty big problem for us.  Any help would be appreciated.

I managed to solve this problem in one of the most unlikely of ways -- not sure if this will also help you, but it's worth a shot!

In the config.php file, for the root_url, I had a slash at the very end, which resulted in all my CMS'd url's to have two consecutive slashes in it. Once I removed the slash the Apply button mysteriously started working again. Yay!

I'm having apply button issues as well. On the edit stylesheet and edit template pages of the admin area, it doesn't do anything.

It quits on line 174 of prototype.js:
function() {return new ActiveXObject('Msxml2.XMLHTTP')},

with "ActiveXObject is not defined"

So I have to "submit" and return back to the page - quite annoying when trying to work on a template!

CMSMS version 1.5.4, Mac 10.4.11, Firefox 3.0.9, PHP 5.2.9, mySQL 5.1.30

HELP?

Can you please tell us what you have done so far. Have you done any of the things mentioned in this thread?
If all else fails, use a bigger hammer.

Well, I had exactly the same problem with the Apply Button. It didn't save anything. But the solution to delete the slash at the end of the root_url helped me to solve the problem.

Thanks..

Please use System Verification (checksums) when elaborating on an issue.
