Re-direct issue

I'm hoping somebody can help me out with the following issue that i'm having.
Redirect Issue:
I have installed the latest version of simplecms to a /home directory, however i'm now trying to redirect my webpage to the simplecms directory instead of the standard index.html page. I have logged into my control panel and have pointed the redirect to /home and for whatever reason that doesnt seem to display the website correctly the css doesnt show up and the links are all broken.
My questions is. Is this a problem with my hosting or i'm i doing something incorrectly here.
