Call for volunteers: Themes site

Hi all

We need people (two or three) to help with the themes site.... upgrading the modules, overhauling the content, migrating the themes to the new standard, theming the layout so it will be consistent with cmsmadesimple.org,  and maintaining it.

And we need more themes.

Maybe this is your chance to give back a little bit to CMS. If you have a bit of spare time, and maybe, potentially, would like to learn a little bit more about how to use CMS efficiently, this may be an opportunity.

Let us know what you think.

Thanks.

You're in.... conscripted for a 3 year term :)

Anyways, reneh has also been drafted/conscripted/(unknowingly volunteered) to this project, and has already done some good work in cleaning out/cleaning up the templates that were in there.

Next I will be upgrading that site to the appropriate version of CMS and whatever modules.

Then we'd like to theme it like www.cmsmadesimple.org

and then the real work would start.

So I suggest that you get in touch with reneh via email or PM, and maybe come up with some ideas.  We need a bit more documentation, some tutorials maybe...  and a hella lot more themes.

Lets go forward, and thank you very much for volunteering.

Okay, themes.cmsmadesimple.org has been upgraded to CMS Made Simple 1.2.3

and reneh has been busy verifying all of the themes, and changing the site around a bit here and there.

He's doing some fantastic work..... so could you volunteers please message reneh and give him a hand.  :)

I don't recall if full screen template previews were available previously.

Unless someone else beats me to it, I'm willing to "try" to make the thumbnails clickable so they expand to a full screen shot - for a better preview of the template.

Can't promise anything. All suggestions welcome.

The Full Themes page at
http://themes.cmsmadesimple.org/Full_Themes.html
has been off-line and then back on sporadically for the last few days. Does anyone know about this? When it's off-line it defaults to the login page. Quite frustrating, as I'm trying to get a client to pick a theme and whenever he gets time to look... the page is off-line.

Anyone?

I would like to volunteer for the themes section of CMSms. Also, I would be glad to help moderate the Layout/CSS part of the forum, since I like helping people with their css problems.

Is this help appreciated?

Hope you have the knowledge to do that - will have a look to your work ;).

Hi!
I got access to the themes site from reneh.

If you have any idea that can/must be changed, you can send it to reneh or to me.

At the moment i am working on a detail page, just to let you know. In the detail page will be a bigger thumbnail but i am still looking for a good solution about the thumbnails in the summary template.

Just feel free to PM us about anything concerning the themes site :)

Hi Simon,

that are great news.

To the first the theme page

http://themes.cmsmadesimple.org/Full_Themes.html

needs a pagination. It's not very funny to scroll over 80 (!) themes.

To the second I'd like to see a shorter summary so I can get a quick overview for all available themes (like oswd.org).

And to the third I suggest to show comments only on the detail page. Comments are making the page longer and longer. Think on the summary page we need only a comment counter (maybe with a link to the detail page) and a link for adding a comment.

Hi Andreas!
1. pagination is implemented in the new Uploads Module which will be released very soon.
2. what info would be helpful in the summary and what in the detail view?
3. yes, as soon as the detail view is working well, i will remove the comments from the summary of course :) how do i get the number of comments?

Summary should be very short (name, thumbnail and maybe the author) so I can decide quickly if I like the theme or not. All the other informations could be moved to the detail view ...
3. yes, as soon as the detail view is working well, i will remove the comments from the summary of course :) how do i get the number of comments?
Think this could be modified ;)
