Image manager and image upload problems

Hi, please bear with me as i am new to cmsms. I have created the following site: www.hthounslow.com. I thought everything was working great but then i logged into the image manager and found that instead of showing the images, it displays the main admin panel. Also when i try to upload images through the wysiwyg editor no images appear or upload. It displays the browse window but hangs when i try uploading an image.

I have been through the forum and came across a few posts, but i don't really understand them. Below are the ones i found:

http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,10485.0.html
http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,7671.0.html

This doesn't seem to be a common problem, so i am really stumped.

I have checked that the required files are chmod 777 and that safe mode restriction are off, and all is fine there.

I have installed version 1.0.4

my config files looks like this:

Code: Select all

  <?php

#CMS Made Simple Configuration File
#Please clear the cache (Site Admin->Global Settings in the admin panel)
#after making any changes to path or url related options

#------------------------
#Locale/Encoding Settings

#In almost all cases, default_encoding should be empty (which defaults to utf-8)
#and admin_encoding should be utf-8.  If you'd like this to be different, change
#both.  Keep in mind, however, that the admin interface translations are all in
#utf-8, and will be converted on the fly to match the admin_encoding.  This
#could seriously slow down the admin interfaces for users.
$config['default_encoding'] = '';
$config['admin_encoding'] = 'utf-8';

#---------------------------------------------
#Use the old stylesheet logic?  It's much slower, but it works with older
#versions of CMSMS.  You'll also need this set to true if there is a module
#that uses a stylesheet callback.  Leave it as false instead you really
#need it.
$config['old_stylesheet'] = false;

# URL of the Admin Panel section of the User Handbook
$config['wiki_url'] = 'http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/User_Handbook/Admin_Panel';

#Enable backwards compatibility mode?  This basically will allow some
#modules written before 1.0 was released to work.  Keep in mind that this
#will use a lot more memory and isn't guaranteed to fix the problem.
$config['backwards_compatible'] = false;

#Not used anymore... kept around, just in case
$config['disable_htmlarea_translation'] = false;
$config['use_Indite'] = true;
?>

Could someone please help with this, and break down any help into steps that i might understand.

I dont understand what the problem is as my brother has installed his on the same hosting company and same version. We have both installed to the root directory, and everything is the same except for the image manager and image upload.

thanks

stu

any thoughts on this gang, because I also didn't get much from the linked forums.

I can't modify the php.ini file as it's shared on the server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to use the Support Tool to give us a better idea of the enviroment you are working in, it looks like windows or something, in all the numerous sites I've worked on/installed they've never had c:\hshome\hthounsl\hthounslow.com...

It tells me that you must have moved this from a localhost install, well at least it looks like it to me as you are running linux, Server OS: Linux v 2.6.8-4-686-smp on i686 architecture, and you have the paths set as if it was on a windows machine with the c: and \ in the paths...

$config['root_path'] = 'c:\hshome\hthounsl\hthounslow.com';

All the ones I've seen always had...

$config['root_path'] = '/home/maksbud/public_html/mark';

And my localhost install

$config['root_path'] = 'C:\xampp\htdocs\cmsms1';

If nothing else I would change all the \ to / after your .com...

$config['uploads_path'] = 'c:\hshome\hthounsl\hthounslow.com\uploads';

$config['uploads_path'] = 'c:\hshome\hthounsl\hthounslow.com/uploads';

$config['image_uploads_path'] = 'c:\hshome\hthounsl\hthounslow.com\uploads\images';

$config['image_uploads_path'] = 'c:\hshome\hthounsl\hthounslow.com/uploads/images';

etc.etc.etc....

Yikes,

Now you've gone way over my head!

Where would I be making these changes?

Should a novice be making them anyway?

Thoughts?

Those all came out of your config.php file you posted above...

Has this site been moved from some where?...

Hey,

Nope, it's a fresh install, with a new host.

Could the following message be the cause of the problem?

Checking if session.save_path is writable
Your session.save_path is "/var/lib/php4". Not having this as writable may make logins to the
Admin Panel not work. You may want to look into making this path writable if you have trouble
logging into the Admin Panel. This test may fail if safe_mode is enabled (see below).

Tar,

Jase

Thats not my config file at the top there.

I've checked my config.ini file and all my slashes are the right way!

You seem to have safe mode on try using the Support Tool to tell what you are running and if it is...

Hi Mark

I've already setup the support tool and posted the results above. Safe mode is definitely OFF.

I've been fighting with this now for hours, and am slowly slipping into insanity.

I can't change the php.ini file as it's shared on the hosts server. Should I post my config file?

Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Hey,

I've solved the image manager problem by using the 'dirty' solution mentioned in the forum thread below:

http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php?topic=10485.0

Though now the problem appears, (and did before) in the image chooser of TinyMCE.

One solved problem invites the next problem.

Grrr.
