How to make two Print Catalogs separate?

Hi,
I've been working on a museum website (dev site is: http://www.santacruzmah.org/new/cmsmadesimple) that I've used Cataloger for the Collections page, and for Past Exhibits. Unfortunately, it shows ALL the items in both Print Catalogs. Is there a way to have it not do this? I've tried creating a new subtemplate called "Archived Exhibits" and created a directory in my catalog image folder called archivedexhibits, but, when I upload images from my Archived Exibits Item page, they also go directly to the catalog folder (no option for other folders).
Maybe it's a smarty code thing, such as $item. I tried adding archivedexhibits/$item, in my template, but, of course got tons of errors. Is this even possible?
