Hello and Thank you for reading.

I'm running version: CMS Made Simple 1.2.2 "Holetown"

I've found a problem with metadata set in the options tab of my homepage.

The metadata is showing up as plain text at the very top of my page.  The metadata set in the global options is appearing in the meta tag correctly.  When I view the source of the page it looks like this :

Code: Select all

<meta name="Generator" content="Redoubt Realty, Soldotna Alaska Real Estate, Kenai Peninsula Real Estate, Alaska Realtor." />
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

"Redoubt Realty""Redoubt Reality""Kenai Peninsula houses""Kenai Peninsula real estate""Kenai Peninsula land""Soldotna houses""Soldotna land""Soldotna real estate""Kenai houses""Kenai land""Kenai real estate""Nikiski houses""Nikiski land""Nikiski real estate""Sterling houses""Sterling land""Sterling real estate""Kasilof houses""Kasilof land""Kasilof real estate""Funny River houses""Funny River land""Funny River real estate""Kenai River houses""Kenai River land""Kasilof River houses""Kasilof River Houses""Cook Inlet""Cooper Landing""Hope"

stylesheets ...
</head>
For now I've moved the metadata shown above into the global settings and that works well.  But my client wants to put it in the homepage options tab.  Is there any advantage to this?

Thank you,

TJ

First, upgrade ASAP.  There is a security vulnerability in 1.2.2 that's been fixed in the latest version.

The advantage of setting the metadata specific to a page at the page level instead of the global level is that you have unique metadata for each page.  I don't know if Google, et al, ding you for using the same metadata on every page, but I do know Google's Webmaster Tools flags duplicate metadata when analyzing your pages.

Now what exactly is your client putting into the metadata section of the page, he needs to put in valid HTML code:

Example:

Code: Select all

<meta name="keywords" content="Redoubt Realty Redoubt Reality Kenai Peninsula houses Kenai Peninsula real estate Kenai Peninsula land Soldotna houses Soldotna land Soldotna real estate Kenai houses Kenai land Kenai real estate Nikiski houses Nikiski land Nikiski real estate Sterling houses Sterling land Sterling real estate Kasilof houses Kasilof land Kasilof real estate Funny River houses Funny River land Funny River real estate Kenai River houses Kenai River land Kasilof River houses Kasilof River Houses Cook Inlet Cooper Landing Hope">
