pretty URLS, CMSMS & News links

Hi,

I'm referring to my own site: http://neurovision.com.au/

See the sub nav.. 'Home' Portfolio' etc etc...

Its a Global Content Block. I'd like the links to be se friendly pretty url's. When I create the links I've was using the 'Insert CMS MS link' button but that creates (eg) index.php=page=80 so I just hard code the URL by referring to the alias but I was wondering if that is in fact the only way... or is there a better way?

Also: I'd like to write some articles. Is it possible to make pretty url's for News pages or should I just write a new page and link to them using another Global content block or... do you think I should use the blog module? Does the blog module allow pretty url's?

Thanks,
Herb

Pretty URLs

What editor are you using?

When I'm using TinyMCE and I insert a CMS Link {cms_selflink} pretty URLs are generated in my pages.  I've tested a {cms_selflink} on a page and in a global content block.

Stupid question, but do you have Pretty URLs and how are they configured?  Can you post that section of your config.php and .htaccess?

News
Yes, it's possible to get pretty close, there are actually a couple of options.  If you search you should have found them ;)

[EDIT, fixed links and finished post... ]

fritzfs goes through one option/hack here:

I go step by step through another option/hack here that Walkere came up with:

Blog
I have no idea, have you tried it?  I don't know if it uses Pretty URLs out of the box or if you have to do a hack.

Found the link to the NEWs hack but...

Yes I have pretty url's successfully configured for the other pages but when I use the selflink (orange palm tree)

I'm using TinyMCE.

Haven't tried the blog yet.

What version of CMSms are you using?

What version of the TinyMCE module do you have installed?  You can find that under Extensions > Modules when logged in as admin.

Have you made modifications to core files?

I have CMS 1.2.3 out of the box installed and with pretty urls configured and using cms_selflink either in a global content block or in regular content it uses Pretty URLs.
