In the content section of the default template the page title has an orange block next to it.

I've scoured the stylesheets but I can't find any reference to this block or how it's produced (gif?)

Install firebug or the web developer extension..... it can tell you exactly which styles are in use by a specific element, and then you can figure out which element to adjust
