[Solved] Page won't update

Hi

I have installed CMSMS for the second time...and I still can't get it right..

When I edit a page in this CMS, the effect of my editing does not take place before (up to) one hour later. It does not matter if I surf with mobile phone, ipod or computer. It is still showing the same web page for up to one hour.. sometimes it only takes 40 minutes, and sometimes (only when I have just logged in the very first time that day) the page is updated immediately when I edit it.  But after this I have to wait a long time to see the updated page..

Why ?  :-\

I do not run in safe mode.. and I am using MySQL v5

Hope someone can help..

Thanks

Is this with a default install or have you made changes to any core CMSms files?

Have you tried clearing the cache after the change is made?  When logged into the Admin Panel, go to Site Admin > Global Settings and press the Clear button.

Hi. .Thanks, now I'm getting somewhere..  :)

Every time I press clear cache I get an updated page of my site.. But clearly this can not be the right way to do this.. I also testet will I.E 7, my main browser Firefox/2.0.0.12 and a newer phone.. nothing changes unless I clear cache every time I want to update my page..

I did install the CMSMS two times... I had the same problem the first time so I deleted all the CMSMS files except for the database.. So when I installed it a second time I probably had two duplicates of the database files in the same database.. anyways I deleted all files with identical names and a  _seq behind them (my server provider told me to).... I now have 40 files left in my mysql databse.. Two came back.. cms_additional_users_seq  and  cms_module_search_items_seq. I also changed every folder permission to 777 to see if this would have any impact.. It did not...

That I think is "all" I have changed...

yeah..and  I also read somewhere that changing the File Creation Mask (umask) from 022 to 018 would fix something(?) so I did that do...but did not see any change.. it still is 018...

while working on page you can select in options page that page not cached then set back once all work is done to save bandwidth

Hi

yeah I have noticed this one.. but the catch option under page default is not marked....

Still the only way I can get the site to show the latest/newest page is to clear cache every time I have edited a page..

Is it not possible to make the CMSMS to this automatically every time I hit the apply or submitt button ? Maybe via the .htaccess file ?

I don't know... :-\

It should be working out of the box just fine.  .htaccess has, or should have nothing to do with this.

Can you post a link to a phpinfo page?

I turned off the PHP Acceleration, waited 4 hours..but still the same problem...
I also asked my hosting company to have a look in my apache error log... but since my site was spread out on many servers (clusters?) they could not provide this info... :(

Is it possible to make some script clear my cache or something ?

Could the problem be with my database ? If so what should I look for ?

Hello,

I think there is something strange in the hosting. A CMSms installation is not intended to be "spread". If they make several "copies" of your site, may be when you write changes you still read old copies untill they have updated all copies. This is not a CMS but a hosting issue. See with your provider.

Yes I certainly do to... I did  disable all php Advanced settings for my domain yesterday (including Check Script Modification Time2...) It still did not work.. Then I submitted a support ticket quoting you Pierre:

Now I got this answer from my server host:

" Hello

Thanks for your update information. I believe that after enabling PHP Acceleration - Check Script Modification Time2 for your account you will be able to set your update right after you make the changes to the posts or your website.

Kindly enable this feature from Advanced option of the website as far as the apache logs concerned we will definitely check but right at this moment our admin is not available.

We need to wait for some 5 to 6 hours until then kindly check if it works.

Thank you :) "

So why couldn't they just do this for me while they were sending me this message last night ? Now I have to wait another 6 hours..But anyway it is getting clear now that this has to do with my host and not CMSMS. I will give a feedback whether changing the settings helps or not... ::)

Now my Mysql database is acting up to... "Lost connection to database"... I have to reload page every time that happens before I can see my updated page... also I got some cache error on my site when I viewed it in my browser..but I updated before I read what it really was...  ::)

I begged for a php error log.. but "there is none..."  :o

So I now also have to move my database and live with the fact that I must press "clear cache" every time I update my site...

But anyway... I think I will just end this forum post and say that Conclusion should be: DO NOT SIGN UP WITH SERVAGE  (Sewage)...EVER...

I sure as heck won't...now I got 6 days to find a new host before my auto renewal kicks in..

Feel free to send me a personal message with tip for new host...

Thanks everybody for the help... :)
