Sort Pages Alphabetically

OK, the loss of my username recently seems to have involved the loss of some of my previous posts so I’ll have to ask again:

Is there any way to sort the pages in the admin panel in alpha order automatically? Our site is becoming quite large and it’s more and more becoming laborious to sort pages manually, and as more people are working on it not all of them do it, too. What is necessary to enable such functionality? I could imagine that it’s a simple function that makes it go by the first letter of the title (or menu text).

Any help is much appreciated.

No there's nothing in there to do that at the moment.....

To do this properly, one would have to add a preference into the global settings, then modify the appropriate backend classes (there's more than one place) to re-arrange the pages whenever a page was committed, then you would need to disable the re-organize page functions in listcontent.

It'd be a significant change to CMS..... worthy of a new point release.

Thanks for your reply, even if not completely satisfying. Sounds promising, though. Should I post this as a request in the feature request forum or have you added this to the “some time in future” to do list already?

No it's not in the feature requests tracker in the forge yet....

Please add it.... then you'll get notified whenever somebody posts a comment on it or something.

And if you really want this feature, it could be sponsored.
