I get this message when I have installed it to my server. What I'm I doing wrong

I experienced this same issue. Upon investigation I discovered that the install script did not create the directories:

    * tmp
    * tmp/templates_c
    * tmp/cache
    * modules

I created the folders manually and confirmed they had proper permissions. Once that was done, the install ran fine. Now I am trying to figure out why it can't connect to the database even though it is there and user names and passwords seem to be set correctly.

The installation does not create those directories, they are included n the zipped package.

As for your db question, if you haven't already posted to the forum, I suggest you do so, rather than hijacking this post. Make sure you include enough information for someone to provide the help you require.
