Non-existent pages return /index.php

Is it a config problem with my site, or does CMSMS always make http://yoursite/non-existent.html  return the content of /index.php ?

I'd prefer requests for non-existent pages to return my custom 404 page.  Is this possible?

Thanks!

It's actually showing <?php etc?

I've explained this badly! It was executing index.php, not returning the source.

Just fixed it :-)  It was just a config directive in the obscure webserver I use.  CMSMS was not to blame!

Sorry for the confusion.
