I have added the sectiontitle tag and it works, in that it displays the Section Alias.

I added the tag to my template like so: {sectiontitle levels="1"}

However if the section title is 'Services and Information'.

It displays as 'services-and-information'.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is it meant to display like that?

It's meant to do that.  The alias is the part that gets watered down and shows in the url bar for that page.  If you want it to show the Title or Menu Text for the page, it's going to need to be slightly modified.
