How to create a forum?

Hi,

I've just downloaded and installed CMSMS.

Can someone please recommend a good forum to use with CMSMS? Should I use something like phpBB and link to it from my CMS site and structure it like so: www.mycmsmssite.com/forum or is there a good forum module I can use?

Thanks for any guidance.

d3luded,

it depends on your needs. CMSMS has a module called "Forum made simple" that can be downloaded/installed from the development-area (horizontal menu on the top-right).

If you need a "big" forum, you can consider using something like SMF (the same forum as used on this site), and link from within your site to that forum.

Thanks RonnyK for the quick response.

Do you know of any URLs with examples of both forums? I'd like to browse through both and then choose. Thanks again for your help.

In this week, I install a demo-site with Forum Made Simple.

Forum Made Simple has the advantage of full integration with CMSMS but it's a simple forum, if you want a community forum go with SMF or phpBB

For SMF there is a howto for embed in CMSMS

For phpBB there is a old plugin for shared authentication with FronEndUsers module of CMSMS

The easiest way to create a forum that I can recommend you is phpbb.

If you haven't got much time, and want to see what the new phpbb3 can offer, just try it out on this host : free forum

Hope it will help!
