So i alays hear about all these other CMS out there. drupal, joonla, etc. I think CMSms is a better product. And I think I know whats holding CMSms back.
Its the presentation of CMSms. the main site looks old, lame and out dated. The admin panel is just okay, nothing snazzy there either.
Maybe people would be more excited about CMSms is it was cooler looking. I know its dumb, but I dont look at things if they are ugly. CMSms was one of my last CMSs to look at in depth, and I did choose it yes, but I walked into it thinking I wouldnt like it based on looks.
So can the CMSms developers look at the compition, and maybe step up the design of CMSms branding, also show off some great CMSms site right on the home page.
any thoughts?

i'd agree. at first i didnt want to try CMSms based on looks. Some simple steps to change admin:
in css file (default template), you can change background color, heading fonts, and the color of the menu bar.
i would really love a template that looks exactly like ExpressionEngine's admin section. that would be cool!

I too have made my admin panel a bit sleeker. I plan on making it even better soon.

You are referring to the
design competition that is currently going on for a better design of the main site. We gladly accept more entries! There's another 2.5 weeks or so to go. So by mid-October everything will look different.
The admin panel is just okay, nothing snazzy there either.
I think it looks quite ok now, way better than for example e107 or PHP-Fusion. But sure it can be made even better. In CMSMS 2.0 it will be very easy to customize admin themes, both the XHTML and the CSS (which can be done easily already).
If you have a suggestion for a better-looking admin for the next version, anyone is welcome to submit a suggestion!

I have actually made my own custom admin skin for CMSMS, and you'd be amazed how easy it is.
Personally, I get annoyed by those 3d icons, drop shadows etc, like the Joomla admin. For the majority of clients, they like simple, clean text based backends, with my branding on the header.
Maybe its just because I am so *over* the 2.0 gradients and gels buttons etc right now that I would hate it if CMSMS went too far down that track. The reason I love it is because of its simplicity, and the ability to customise without having to get rid of 100 image files to do it.
I will happily volunteer to create the admin interface for CMSMS 2.0 - you guys need a woman's touch (not literally

)
