[partially solved] Images not showing correctly when surfing the site

Hi all,
little big problem:
When entering the site www.domain.de all images are shown correctly [1]. When moving around and returning to the starting page by clicking the "home" link [2], the images have vanished.
image links:
[1] www.domain.de/uploads/images/image.png (correct)
[2] www.domain.de/index.php/uploads/images/image.png (definitely wrong!)
I've solved the puzzle by deleting the [showbase='false'] option within the templates {metadata} tag.
But:
It worked properly for a long time, and without changing anything (neither template, nor permissions nor anything else) "suddenly" this problem appeared. Only thing I've done is, opening the "home" page with the CMSms back-end, changing nothing and saving it again...
So there must be something weird about it... and just deleting the metadata option can't be a proper solution.
Ideas, anyone? Different PHP on the server? Or some PHP opts disabled? Anything like this?
