how to embed the latest news into a newsletter

I'm unsure of whether this is even possible but if anyone knows I'm sure I'll find an answer here 
I'm putting together a newsletter with PHPlist & have finally managed to get it past any spam filters that I've tried. I thought that it would be a nice touch to link to the latest news on the CMSMS driven site.
So, I would have for example, have a column to the left or right of the main newsletter page with the header & summary of the last two news items. In my case it would show the latest projects, when the link is clicked it would redirect to the website & show the full article.
In summary, is it possible to embed the dynamic news content into an html email?...if so how?
