Weird 'No content given' error

Hi --

I've searched the forum and have seen some other situations generating this error, but none that seem to apply to our situation.  My content editors are getting the 'no content given' error on a few individual pages, but not elsewhere.  At first we thought it was an issue with the amount of content they were trying to add at once (copying and pasting from our legacy site), but I've tried doing just some individual lines of text and/or html code and am still getting the error.

Any ideas as to why it would be happening on just a few pages, but not elsewhere?  We've been able to create/edit pages elsewhere on the site with no real issues.

I should add this is happening on Mac/PC and IE/Firefox -- I've tried all of them and am getting the same results.

Thanks!
Lisa

Hello Lisa,

are there any differences on these "few individual pages" ?
Some weird characters like {/\'-"![ or mixed charsets ? Anything special like Smarty tags, inline Javascript/whatever/PHP code ?

Have you tried to choose another WYSIWYG editor ?
Or to edit them without a WYSIWYG editor to detect some code oddities ?

Hi --

Thanks for your response.  I thought about that too, and have tried just typing in a single letter or pasting in just one word, but that doesn't seem to be accepted either -- but again, this only occurs on those few pages, all others are fine.  It's basically got an empty shell there as a placeholder, but for some reason or another will not accept content; the pages before and after in the same sections are OK.

Is "that" the weird characters or the WYISWYG ?

If you can backup and restore your database, you have the option to try to delete a weird page and then recreate it.

I am having the same error as you!

Did you find a fix for this?
I submited a few times/ cahged content type a few times and it is now working.

But other random pages are giving the No content error you described.

Hello,

please describe step by step (to reproduce) what this same error is.
And what can have changed on your hosting.

Thanks for your reply Pierre (and interest!)

I can't  replicate and happened a "few" times.. I have fixed it by repeated attempts to submit/apply changes to a page, changing the page type, etc.. then it fixes itself like magic! If I could reproduce it consistently I could probably fix it myself :)

This is happening on a live site with a very scratchy client (a lawyer) so don't have the luxury of keeping a page with no content in order to debug. I am tonight going to try create a whole lot of new pages/edit lots of existing pages in order to try and figure it out.

I really posted in the hope that msboyd (the thread starter) had resolved it... or at least to see if the problem was persistent.

Thanks again for taking an interest.. will post if I figure it out.

Mike
