An idea for 2.0: Core categories

I'd like to see a system similar to Drupal, where categories are created in the core and can be shared amongst all modules, sort of like a tagging system. For example, you could create a general category called 'Monkeys' (if that's your bag) and then assign news stories, events, images, blog posts, etc, to that category; it would save having to create a category for each of the four modules independently as you have to currently. Also, each item could be assigned multiple categories.

I'm not sure if this is an idea that has been discussed or would even work, but it's one of the best features of Drupal (IMHO).

I'll add this as a feature request to the core if there's any interest in it (and it hasn't been done already).

Me neither, but it sounds like a GREAT idea!

IMHO this was one of the worst features of Drupal, and is why I switched to CMSMS. :) I just found it way to confusing and I could not see it offering me any real benefit.

I'm sure CMSMS could implement it better - Druapl seemed to rely on it too much.
