Empty pages after upgrade

Hello cms friends.

I am trying to maintain a website for my fellow film editors in Norway.  Tonight I tried to upgrade from 0.13 to 1.06. No errormsgs after setting permissions right for the config file. Upgrade seemed to go well. BUT: when trying to load pages it took forever for the browser to get the pages and when it finally showed them all content was gone. Empty pages but with banner and sidebar with navigation links to more empty pages.

I tried to restore the site with my backup for pages and .sql database, but I couldn't get that to work either so now I have asked for a full restore from my host.

I suppose something went wrong with the database, perhaps? Or maybe maybe trouble with more permissions even though I didn't get more error messages?

What is the right way to backup and restore a mysql database? (So I can do this myself next time I need to do it)

And do you have any advice for me on how to proceed to succeed with my upgrade?

Ther server is running:
Apache/1.3.33 (Debian GNU/Linux) PHP/4.4.6-0.dotdeb.2 with Suhosin-Patch mod_perl/1.29
Mysql 4.1.11

Any help would be very welcome!

Did you check your httpd error log when you were getting these blank pages?

I'll bet that there was a problem with one of your third party modules that caused a php error.  Probably something related to RowCount/RecordCount or something like that.

any tip on how to fix that?

Should I uninstall all modules first? I use these modules:
Customcontent, FrontEndUsers, Selfregistration,Content2Pdf, CMSMailer, FCKeditorXMenuManager, News, pisearch,ThemeManager

I had uninstalled these modules wich I didn't use: Backup, cbrte, comments, FrontEndUserListing, Hitcounter, TinyMCE, RSS
How about Extensions? Possible problems with them?
