Performance and scalability

I am looking for information on how well CMS Made Simple scales. Something to the tune of about 1,500-2,000 installations between two servers (network based load balancing).  Whether they would be separate installations or somehow a partially shared app (assuming it is possible) does not matter. Just looking for some hard evidence of performance.

To keep to this concise I was asked to find an open source replacement for a pos in house built cms. And was given about 24 hours to turn is some recommendations with supporting data. I have used and love CMS Made Simple for personal freelance projects.

I've made it with 20 users. A main result (for me) is that CMSms can deliver (only?) 2.1 pages per second (without caching).

Hello !

I'd stress to compare :
-CMSms "out of the box (without caching)",
-CMSms with Cyberman's cache module,
-CMSms with webserver caching feature, ala mod_cache.
