I don't see FCKeditor

Hi,

Can someone please help - this is the first time I'm setting up a site with CMSMS.

When I create a new page - how do I get the text editor to come up? Do I have to put some code in my template?

Thanks very much for your help.

Do you have it set up in the My settings » Admin settings (something like that, I'm running a different language version).

Hi,

Yes, its selected in "my preferences" but I don't see it anywhere. Is it supposed to automatically appear or do I select something once on the edit content page? I have not the foggiest idea what it looks like.

Which operating system and browser are you using?

If you're using Mac OS and Safari then in my experience FCKeditor does not function. TinyMCE seems to work and is my preferred editor. I find Firefox works well with both editors on either Mac OS or Windows.

Hi Jonny,

I am on Windows and tried it in IE6 and Firefox and nothing appears. What is it supposed to look like? and where does it appear? Was I supposed to put code anywhere in the template? I have checked - FCKeditor is definitely installed and I have selected it as my editor of choice. Anything else I am supposed to have done?

Hello again,

Sorry to be a pain. I have just installed TinyMCE and I don't see that either. Therefore its got be something I'm not doing or something. Any ideas? Would someone please tell me step by step how they get to a page they want to edit and where they find the editor. Then perhaps I can follow step by step to see where I am going wrong. I would really appreciate it.  Thank you.

After selecting a WYSIWYG in My Preferences » User Preferences there is is nothing you should be doing, you should simply get the editor for the "Content" field when you add or edit a page (Content » Pages, choose "Add New Content" or edit a page by clicking it's name or the edit icon beside it).

This looks like a local browser/javascript blocker problem. Do you have the possibility to try from another computer/browser?
Is the editor appearing when you add/edit a page on the demo site?

D

Do you have a {content} tag in your template where you want the editable content to be?

Hi Jonny and Dee,

I checked the demo site again and no, I don't see it there either so I'll look at my computer/browser to find the problem .  I do have the {content} code in my html as as far as I can see I've done everything else right.

Thanks very much for your input.

Thanks to those who input. I'm still learning and your time is much appreciated.  ;D - Not a problem with cms made simple at all - it was my Nortons Internet Security blocking it and my test site is working fine.
