how to integrate SMF - simple machines forum

I have tried to include the last few topics from SMF, tested many things yet insuccesfully. The download link to smf module posted on this forum doesn't work anylonger.
Tried to create custom tag:
Code: Select all
require('./forum/SSI.php');
ssi_recentTopics();
but that didn't work. Also embedding the require in the template and only the recentTopics function into the custom tag didn't work. But obviously I have almost no clue about php and advanced html.
Does someone here have a working setup of CMSMS+SMF, please? All i need is to have the last few topics from the forum to show up on my main page.

Danke schön for an idea and plugin, that's something I didn't consider previously yet will probably use for some of my projects. I have also seen the fetchurl, but not sure how that one works.
The biggest disadvantage in this case is that iframe is not being indexed by search engines. Having it without iframe so that search engines could see it, would mean they will be coming to my main page more often because it will change everytime new content to the forum is added. (And of course also more links to my forum would mean perhaps better traffic from search engines.)
(I have finally managed to do main page+last topics integration with minibb board and plain html, so I hope I will have luck with SMF and CMSMS soon as well.)

I know this is an old topic, however I was just wondering if it is possible to include SMF forums in CMSMS? Is it possible to add the frontend users, or self registration modules to CMSMS and have a members area, but to also have this integrated with the SMF login so people only have to login once???

It's all possible, with the 1.0-series and events, and it's on my list, but it's down lower, and due to time constraints I don't know when I'll be able to get to it.
But I'm sure I could re-arrange my priorities if suitable incentives were around..... Hmmm, I think again about software ransoms.
