Renaming the (CMS) index.php file

I installed CMSMS to the root directory. But to keep my standard index.php file for the site, I renamed the (CMS) index.php to cmsindex.php. Is there a way to change the "home path" in the basic CMSMS installation to make them point to cmsindex.php instead of index.php?

There is not. You shouldn't rename the index.php, either install CMS Made Simple in a subdir like /cms/ (and change config.php) or implement your old/standard index file in the default page of CMS Made Simple.

If you want a pre-home and DirectoryIndex lists first index.html then index.php, you can try index.html as the prehome and unmodified index.php as the home. Just standard HTML, out of the box CMSms and well configured webserver.

HelloTikkiRo,

I think your should wipe the mess and reinstall from scratch in a folder following the installation instructions in the wiki. Then, if something is wrong, please start another thread. But everything should be ok.
Have fun
