Using the Calendar module (SVN version) instead of the News module allows just this. :)

I just tried out the SVN of News to Calendar Bridge: http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/newstocalendar/ (download here: http://www.elijahlofgren.com/uploads/mo ... .0-svn.xml )
and the latest SVN of Calendar: http://www.elijahlofgren.com/uploads/mo ... .9-svn.xml

News to Calendar Bridge easily imported all my News posts into Calendar. :)

And I've been able to make WONDERFUL URLs.
For example on my test page here: http://www.elijahlofgren.com/new-blog/

The links to posts are in the form: http://www.elijahlofgren.com/2007/03/02 ... ght-along/

In addition there is month pagination.  :) ;)

I can pretty up the month pagination links later (maybe Spring Break)

Methinks some people are going to like this......

One thing I need to do is add an RSS feed to calendar so that it will be pretty much a complete replacement for News. :)

Goodnight all,

Elijah

Phew, maybe I'm losing my time with the News module...
...then again, this calendar extension looks a little overweight, and I have difficulty to learn it.
Does it really act like News? For instance I'd like to show only non-expired news on the first page.

Not really. I never actually finished making Calendar completely into a blog module. It doesn't default to the current time when posting a new event. In addition there is no RSS capability or search inegration.
I'm not sure if Calendar has an expired feature or not.
I'm currently busy with school so I can't work on CMSMS much anymore.

Sorry I can't be of more help,

Elijah
