Re-import themes

Post by meanpenguin »

Hi,

Once a theme has been imported, there is no way to re-import a theme (like after minor changes have been made).
Can we have a checkbox to "overwrite" existing so updates to themes can be made?

Thanks.

Maybe that's a question of your workflow. CMSms supports duplicating of themes. So it would be easier to work EVERY time with a copy of original.

  • Some workflow examples,  they are all variations of similar issue...

    Using other peoples themes
    • 1.  Download a theme v1.0 and import it
    • 2.  Find problems and work with the designer to make "fixes"
    • 3.  I would like to download the theme v1.1 and import it again
Right now, I have to figure out what the changes are and make the changes myself.

    Applying themes across multiple installations
    • 1.  Create a theme and export it
    • 2.  Import it into 10 other CMSMS installations
    • 3.  Enhance the themes with new bells and whistles
    • 3.  I would like to export the updates and import it again on the other 10 CMSMS Installations
Right now, I have to make 10 additional changes manually on the 10 other CMSMS installations.

Developing themes in a dev CMSMS installation
    • 1.  Create a theme in a development installation and export it
    • 2.  Import it into the production CMSMS installations
    • 3.  Enhance the themes with new bells and whistles in the development environment
    • 3.  I would like to export the updates and import it again to production
I rather not make changes to the themes in a production env.
Rather have changes done in a dev environment and then import final version to the production env.
And more than just one time.

    Thanks,
    Edward
