Some computers won't show admin pages correctly - and they freeze

The admin pages in a site I have made show fine on some computers, but on other computers (both winXP and win98) the pages are white and unformatted with menu items listed to the left like ordinary links (blue underlined). Why is that? Does it have to do with browser settings on the computers? It can't be a server problem - can it? I mean - since the pages show OK on some computers?
Also - the computers that show the pages unformatted freeze when users try to add content to the pages. It looks like those two problems are connected somehow.
Any ideas, please?

Your browsing computers seem to have some trouble. Try to feed them with freesbie or DSL-n :
http://www.freesbie.org/ or
http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/dsl-n/
You should try a MacIntosh too.

I can't ask people to switch OS and/or hardware... The solution must be closer than that - either upgrading IE to newer version or change some settings in IE or maybe firewall - I don't know. I should compare the settings to those in a working computer, but the list of possible setting errors is overwhelming, I think.
A strange thing is that when they hit F5 the pages show OK. Seems like it helps the computers to see or understand the included js files when the page is refreshed.

IE6 is a working way(TM) to accept viruses. Don't your non working browsing stations run IE7 ?

I used to have such a problem on a Mac controlled DNS/Lan on which IPv6 wasn't disabled.
BTW, LiveCD are not requesting people to change their OS ...immediately

They don't have IE7 yet, which they probably should for other reasons. But still I don't think that is the problem - I just tried to read the admin pages on a freshly installed PC with XP and IE6 (before upgrades) and the pages were OK. So - standard installation reads the pages OK.
I don't think its a LAN/router issue either, because several of my computers at home show the pages OK (XP, IE7 and IE6), but one doesn't (Win98, IE6).

Try to install one of these
http://www.avast.com/eng/windows_viruses.html or ask Microsoft for Windows support, as CMSms is working. Pierre M.
