question about css files and php script

Hi, I have a question.. I found a php script, css override, which you include under your css import. Your main css file loads, and the scripts adds a browser specific css file with whatever changes are needed for that specific browser.. I notice that cmsms loads the css files with id's not names. Im guessing it saves them in the database..
Do you think it would be possible to make different css files, one for IE6 , IE7, and have the php script load them by ID number..??
Not sure if this will work, but this scripts seems very useful to keep all the browsers happy without css hacks.
Any ideas, opinions would be very helpful.
If you want to do more reading about implementing the script, I found it in minimaldesing dot net..
Im not affilliated with them at all by the way..
thanks
