Cyberman was killed 6 (six!) times!!!
Do you really think after that the victim should come to his murder and talk about his long timed death?
From which star do you come from?

So, nothing good will come out of this?
Sonya, I have seen that same problem with SiteMapMadeSimple, and I also thought that it was extremely unprofessional.
Ted, I have said this on the forum a couple of times before. Please stop plowing ahead with more and more features. CMSMS as is, at version 1.9 is THE BEST CMSMS for medium size websites made by people somewhere in the middle of programming expertise. But modules are really a BIG BIG problem. I have myself at one point not too long ago tried to test install absolutely every single module. Many, many have problems.
Of course, if you say CMSMS is only for professionals like Sonya who can roll up sleeves and dig into code themselves, it's perfectly fine I guess for a module installation to crash your website. (or upgrade).
But you and Linux have something in common - the stubborn viewpoint that it's only for those who can fix problems themselves will hurt CMSMS, and will ensure Linux will never be mainstream.
Ted, get something useful from this. Stop and ask for features that forum users would like to see in CMSMS. By the way, noone uses the feature suggestion forum anymore. Clean house. Squash bugs. Eliminate obsolete modules. Stop saying CMSMS is not for those who haven't learned Smarty and a bunch of other things. Don't have programmers thinking up more and more features for future and future versions of CMSMS.

This thread is making my head spin. I am very distressed and sorry to see cyberman and other long time supporters and contributors leaving. As user of NaN's lovely GBfilepicker module I am left wondering if this means the end of development for that module. But I digress...
I agree with Ted for closing this thread. Some really ugly things have been peppered into some very valid points about some entirely separate issues that should be discussed separately from Cyberman's grievance with the Dev team decision. Read carefully, Ted is saying this public discussion about the
original topic is done, I don't take that to mean the other valid points that have appeared are not to be discussed, only that this particular thread is not the place to discuss the short-comings of the module forge or how to handle core bug reports. Ted is acknowledging there are points here that will be discussed:
Other issues brought up in this thread that are valid, constructive and not trolling or flames will be collected and discussed after the holidays when we've all had a change to relax and regroup.
Devs are people too, they are volunteers and have devoted a significant amount of time to keep this system running and growing. Lay off of Calguy, I mean come on some of the posters here have just been so hurtful. Sure he can sometimes be brusque but I appreciate his dedication to helping users, developing cmsms and the suite of modules he maintains for it.
Please everyone, take a minute to reflect on the hours/days/weeks of work the core devs are giving to you and me as users and how all the dev team's hard work means we have an active, FREE content management system to use. Take another minute to think on the devotion of free time and energy it takes for the forum mods and power posters to provide support for the other users. And now another minute to think of all the free time that was invested by the individual module developers to contribute addons that allow us to customize our installations for our particular needs.
Keyword here - FREE. No one is here because they have to be. So be thankful that despite the unrelenting stream of requests, demands and snipes our devs and knowledgeable users get each day on this forum they stick around to share and help instead of tossing in the towel.
Think about how you communicate with all these dedicated volunteers and with your fellows. Please, let's all remember that everything here is shared freely and try to practice goodwill, civility and patience.
Cheers,
Alane

At this festive time of the year, I would like to say the following:
Thank you Ted, Calguy, and the development team. Thank you for giving us CMSMS. You (each one individually) may be angry for criticism while you contribute so much. You keep working while those who criticize drop in an out daily, just to drop of their load of criticism.
With that said, members of the forum have their own ways on how to contribute. We do not all write code for each CMSMS release. Some help noobs. Some report security and privacy holes. Some offer paid services for those not capable of being the "developer" focus point of CMSMS. We are not part of the dev team, yet we try to contribute as well.
Be open to outside offers to help or put you back on the right path.
For those relevant, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, stay warm and happy.

I can understand cyberman really good. If you read this once again
cyberman wrote:
I’ve discovered CMSms in June 2005, and I instantly felt in love. CMSMS was my life for the last 6 years. To me, it was like a child - all I’ve done was purely for the “baby” which I wanted and still want to see growing.
And I have worked really hard. I’ve done different jobs - first as moderator of the German boards. I didn’t have any experience in forum support. But from my job as a web designer I know what I have to do for my clients. So I’ve regarded every request on the German forums as request of my clients and tried to help as much as I can.
I’ve done several things for and with CMSms: project manager of the German translation team, website owner of cmsmadesimple.de, website admin of cmsmadesimple.org, forum admin on cmsmadesimple.org, documentation author, contact to the German press, international support and was member of the dev team too.
he has the most done for CMSMS. Count it and you will see that no other one have done what he has done.
Only if you've done the same like cyberman you should go into judgement with him.
If he was going this step he must be really despaired on his view of current community situation so the step was justified!

I find it interesting that Assange and winkelman have the same IP...

Speaks clearly to the fact that people are afraid to post under their "real" name. Not because we all want to pick fights under aliases, but because getting banned like Cyberman is not on the list of things we enjoy.
Assange + winkelman: use Tor next time.
Ted, you need to come out of hiding once in a while.
