To be clear: I DO CARE. I'VE ALWAYS CARED. That's why I posted the question.
I don't want to do anything to screw someone out of money or work.
Most of the opensource anything I've ever used is either AJAX or MODx and neither screams "FREE AND SIMPLE" to the client.
Even if I was completely amoral, (and I'm not), I've always felt code theft is a stupid idea because I always imagined it would be pretty easy for a coder to script a searchbot to find his code and see if the user had indeed left his copyright in place. We didn't have a hard time discovering someone had once stolen our entire website, portfolio and all, and was passing it off as their own. And I'm not even a brilliant coder.
