Is this going to be updated for 1.0?

Ted has said that multilinguism should be in 1.1. See the roadmap.

well.... according to http://cmsmadesimple.org/main/roadmap  and the latest developers group meeting, multilang has slipped to 1.2 so that we can do proper workflow stuff and versioning in 1.1 and have it out (hopefully) in a reasonable amount of time.

2 questions about your multilingual version Katon...is there a demo site, or a live site anywhere, so it can be seen in action?
Also - does it support Arabic script?

thanks

Here are two web sites that use the multilingual version:
http://ubdc.net
http://subc.org.ua

I don't have an actual demo running to demonstrate the back end, but visually it's the same except the page list.
As for the Arabic script, I have never considered this task, so I'm afraid it's not going to work.
I would need help from an Arabic developer to help me implement this.

Is there any way to suppress the "current" site language - for example, if I'm viewing the site in French and my other option is English, I only see an "English" link, or vice versa?

Just remove the {lang} tag from the template - this will remove the flags from the page.

Well, I don't want to remove them entirely from the page - I just want to suppress the flag for the "current" language.

Rename and unzip the attached file and replace the file plugins/function.lang.php.

Flag to represent language is bad...

Post by ethical »

Flag Issue.. not going to be standrads compliant....

I have an issue with the use of flags for the language and apparantly so do a lot of people see here: http://www.456bereastreet.com/archive/200604/indicating_language_choice_flags_text_both_neither/

some more thoughts here from the W3C: http://www.w3.org/TR/i18n-html-tech-lang/#ri20040808.173208643

I am wondering how hard would it be to change the image display box to a drop down Box with the languages in TEXT format?

Also for example in Canada, if using flags would use the Quebec Flag for french and the canadian flag for english, perhaps thse can be added in at some point to the default install

thanks for your help

hi there,

is there someone who could tell me how i can get this to work? i downloaded and installed 1.0.2b4 two times now and i cannot even find anything multilingual, except the setting for the default language in "site admin".

when trying to add a new page it tells me it was saved, but it doesnt appear in the list... and viewing the site gives me an error 404. clicking "global content blocks" gives back the following error:

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/........./cmsmsmle/lib/classes/class.globalcontentoperations.inc.php on line 85
in the installation process i only checked one additional language (german).

this is the second time with a fresh installation now, i dont know what to do :-(
