[solved] problem upgrading from 1.4 to 1.5.4

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

I can confirm this. I upgraded form something pretty old to 1.5.3. Using ftp, so the files are not owned by apache by by the ftp user. I changed the 'modules' chmod to 777 but I still got the error that I couldn't upload modules because there was no rwx access. Duh...

Then I changed the file permissions of 'uploads' to a+x and suddenly there was no warning anymore about 'modules' not being rwx.

This is definitely a bug. And a very bad one!!!

I think to incomplete message ....
The check is important because many modules live on upload folder
