Update: CMS Made Simple 1.4b2

Post by calguy1000 »

Okay, I thought I'd just keep you posted.

CMS Made Simple v1.4-beta2 has now exceeded beta1 in downloads, which is a very good thing, considering the relatively low amount of bug reports we've received.

We've tackled many of these issues, and solved a bunch of stuff, including most of the issues that have been reported to date.  A few we have left because they are low priority, or long-standing issues, or would introduce additional risk into the code that would require a third beta.  However, there are a few issues remaining that we would like to fix.

The remaining issues exist particularly in the installer, and in the system info page.  Alby has been in charge of that project, but is on vacation now, and although I have made a few changes, I would like him to finish this stuff up before we release.

For that reason, we'll probably hold off the release for another week, and try to get these issues resolved and tested thorougly.  But please, keep up the testing, let us know if there is anything you find.

I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem. I've been testing 1.4 beta 2 and cannot seem to figure out what is wrong with one of the modules. This module is the uploads / Front End File Management.  I had the module working fine on 1.25 but on the beta it now displays blank results. I know for sure that files are uploaded.

So has anyone else run into this problem?

This is the last week for beta2, the new version comes out quite soon (hopefully this weekend).

Now we need translators to really keep an eye on their translations, and make sure that they're up to date (at least once per day).... so that your language will be available, and complete when 1.4 is finally released.

I know a number of people have been doing this, but there are alot of languages that aren't being updated on a regular basis (Spanish is one of them).  So please, find some time to do some translating people.

Thank you,

keep an eye on my blog at calguy1000.com,  I'll be posting a howto in there today or tomorrow.

It's quite simple actually.  For the tag, it's a 2 step process.  I've also got News' summary into the meta description tag, and I change the header to display the news title as well, (that one is a bit more complex).

We are trying to keep up with the Russian translation but as we are not paid (and I assume nobody is) it's moving on slowly. We hope to get it finished by the weekend though.

So what's the ETA, this weekend as planned? I want to upgrade my client's website to 1.4 skipping the 1.3.1 step, but I need to provide some estimate when it will be released :)

Anyone experiencing pretty urls with mod_rewrite issues with this version ? I tried it on a host I already successfully used pretty urls on v1.3.1, and can't find my pages...

I had no issues... in fact I'v had none at all with 1.4... the only one  area of issues was in blogsMS, but I don't think that was a 1.4 issue
