Maybe the number=8 parameter is still in the url you try to call the page with?

Thanks for your very quick reply, Jos!
The number is not in the URL.
I eventually solved the problem myself by changing {Gallery} in the page content to {Gallery number="100"}, refreshing the page and then changing the tag back to {Gallery}.
And now I'm trying to reproduce the problem and I can't...
Thanks again!
Hans

I have been trying to download Gallery into my CMSMS site but instead of downloading it asks me if I want to save the file on my computer. I read the help info for the module and do not see that anything should prevent me from downloading it. Are there some tricks I am not aware of?

So, I tried this and first when I tried to upload the rar file it wouldn't let me, which I kind of knew. So I unzipped the rar file and tried to upload and it does not let me upload the folder but breaks down into each individual file. Should I upload it in pieces like this? Thanks for the help.

Well you did kind of tell them to upload the tar/zip...
2 ways to do it...
1) unpack on your comp. then upload the whole folder to site into modules folder...
2) use servers cPanel file manager to upload tar/zip to modules folder, unpack once it's uploaded...
Once it's up install in extensions > modules...

Not without hacking the code (default path settings) on top of the file Gallery.module.php

I notice that in the default Fancybox template included as part of the latest versions of Gallery the IE6-specific CSS has been removed, which causes the gallery to break in IE6.
Was this removal of code deliberate? The IE6 code is still a part of the latest official Fancybox release.

Yes, those lines were delibirately removed. It gave some trouble with the paths and I didn't want to spend much time on it, because who wants to support IE6 nowadays?
You can add the lines yourself if you like

It's my new favorite module.. Just like News, CGBlog, CGCalendar, etc, it can be [mis]used for many purposes. Very well done with the drag-and-drop reordering. There are a couple of minor suggestions I would make. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is to allow multiple templates for single image calls.
