Is there any download location for the working module? This seems to be a really great WYSIWYG-editor and I don´t like the standard-editor in any way.

Michael,

Thanks for this. Would indeed be great if you can register a project in the CMSMS Forge and then upload the module there for people to download.

If you're not already a registered user in the forge, first register. Then on "My page" click "Register project" and fill in the details.

Thanks!

Sorry for the slow response -- been snowed under with work.  I'll post the module to the Forge this afternoon.  Thanks for the forge tips!

Thx

Still a few bugs in the system...

I just noticed that widgEditor is having trouble holding the styling when I apply it to my text.  For example, if I click Bold or Italic, the formatting is applied, but then removed (or ignored) when I hit the submit button. (Styling brought in via a copy/paste works fine.)

I don't know if this is simply a matter of the editor options not being set correctly, or symptoms of a deeper problem.  For this reason, I'm thinking the module is really alpha level.  I'll spend some time looking into this one tonight.

OK, I've created a module in the Forge.  Download away!  This being my very first time posting code to the Forge, I have hopefully not screwed things up too much. :)

I also spent some time looking at the text problem I mentioned earlier.  This is a known bug that only appears in Firefox.  It's not clear whether the problem is solveable by the author, or when he will attempt to do so.  The problem only appears when you select an entire block of code and apply styles; if you select only a portion of the text, everything works correctly.  It may not be noticeable to most users.

The editor seems to be really nice, but it has two main-problems for me:

1. It deletes blank lines in my html code (looking at the code with the editor).
2. You are only able to set links, but not to edit a link in case only one letter is wrong.

widgEditor has several glitches besides the link-desaster. It does not work with the image-manager and some other features, like adding attributes in source-view, do not always work. However I like it because it is lean and standards compliant - just right for some projects.

It's a shame that the widgEditor is no longer maintained. Congratulations to thetallguy: Great work! And thank you for fixing what I messed up. ;)

Nils

At the moment, I'm neck-deep in a site project that must be done by the end of the week.  After that, though, I'll look through the widgeditor site again and check out the changes submitted by other users.  It's possible that some of them fix the problem you found.

There is good news over at The Man in Blue --- Cameron has promised to update widgEditor and fix most of the bugs - so you probably won't need to do it. The post is only a few days old and refers to a bug in Firefox 1.5 - but Cameron said he'd fix some others as well.
