If you're on "Extensions -> Modules -> Search", you'll see four tabs with one called "Search template".

You might wanna change it there, and clear the cache afterwards. This is the place the program looks, the php is only used for recreating the default template.

What do you mean with "no", don't you sea the tab in the news-module, or is it not working.

What do you see when you select news under "Extensions -> Search"?

AHHHHH, sorry, you have to forget about "modules in the path, it''s directly as above "Exensions -> Search" and then the tab "search template"
