If you are going to require visitors to log in to view certain pages on a site you do need FEU, set it up as shown in the modules Help page, go to a page and set it to protected content then in permissions you set the group/users allowed to view page, if they are not logged in they should see the log in form...

The PDF you are reading may be quite old and things have changed so don't be surprised if it doesn't have the exact instructions...

Thanks, Doc.

The help section offers even less help than the pdf.

I am trying to decipher everything surrounding this module. If it is the only way to get where I need to go, then I must understand how to use it correctly. However, I am only part way there right now.

I am currently re-writing that pdf to correctly show the right way to install it. With the continued help here, I believe something good will come out of all this.

Here's what I need now:
1. Does it matter which templates are chosen during the setup process? It specifies certain ones, but they are not the defaults I use.
2. Is the new menu template the one that will take the place of the menus in the whole site?

Thanks.

If you use Content Type: Protected Content then you don't need to do anything to the templates nor use a special menu template...

Wow!. Thanks for the info. The old instructions actually stated things completely opposite.

Thank you very much for the clarification.

From Front End Users' help:
Adding protected content to your CMSMS site is as simple as creating new pages of type "Protected Content" and selecting which user groups (or all) that are allowed to view the page.
Did you try this approach?

Yes, I just did. It gives me a page that showed a log-on screen. Is that correct?

Is there anyone out there that has first hand experience of getting this working? I would appreciate a little direction.

Thanks.

1.1. make a group in FEU
1.2. add a user to that group

2.1. make a new page or open the page that needs to be hidden
2.2. set Content Type to protected content

if you have only one group, you can skip the next 2 points
2.3 open tab Viewers
2.4 click on the group that has access to that page.

Thanks for the clear instructions. Appreciated.

Will that work with a Redirecting Link page?

I would like to connect with my Simple Machines Forum. I would also like to secure the whole forum system as well.
